Easter has become such in candy centered holiday. Between the Easter baskets and the Easter egg hunt, candy is no longer a special treat, but available in a gluttonous abundance. Our children expect to receive loads of candy because that is what we have trained them to expect. Don’t get me wrong, I love candy as much as the next girl, but it is the amount that we are talking about here that is the true problem.
Themed Easter Baskets
One great way to celebrate the fun of Easter, without a focus on candy, is to create themed Easter baskets. Does that mean there should be no candy in the Easter basket? No, but that does mean that the focus should be on something else.
My little boy, Ransom Kingsley, is 18 months old and I believe that the traditions we create now will carry over for years to come. With spring time finally arriving, this year we decided it would be best to go with a garden themed Easter basket. My fiance and I are avid gardeners and spend much of our free time growing and harvesting our own food in our large backyard garden. Gardening is important to on us and we want to teach our little guy to look forward to spring and starting a garden as well. Inside his Easter basket I got these adorable tiny little Mickey Mouse gardening gloves, a little shovel and rake with some seeds. I know he will love it!!
