Take a step out of everyday life and discover the world-class experiences offered at Turning Stone Resort Casino, Upstate New York’s Best Kept Staycation Destination.
Thank you to Turning Stone Resort Casino for sponsoring this post. As always, all opinions are my own.
Upstate New York’s Best Kept Staycation Destination
The only people who love Turning Stone Resort Casino more than I do is my mom and dad, the ones who first introduced us to this fabulous resort many years ago. Less than a two hour drive from my home in Rochester, it is easy to see why this conveniently located hidden gem in Verona is one of the top five tourist destinations in New York.
I have been going to Turning Stone with my husband and my family at least twice a year for the past five years since.
From birthdays to special occasions, Turning Stone has always been our go-to Staycation destination – a day trip destination that takes us out of our daily routines to a place of fun, rest, and relaxation.
New to the Idea of a Staycation?
A Staycation is a vacation spent at home or near home, doing enjoyable activities or visiting local attractions.
If you haven’t taken a staycation yet, I highly recommend it for your physical, mental and emotional health. A staycation is an excellent opportunity get away from everyday life without all the hustle and bustle of traveling, airports, luggage snafus and the inevitable travel headaches.
Once you arrive to Turning Stone Resort Casino, everything you need is conveniently located in one spot, so there is no need to travel anywhere else, simply valet your car and open your mind to the incredible experience you are about to have.
Reminiscent of a Las Vegas resort, the award-winning Turning Stone Resort Casino is a 3,400 acre destination resort, featuring four hotels, more than 20 fine and casual-dining restaurants, two luxurious spas, five picturesque golf courses, a state-of-the-art golf dome for year-round golf, indoor and outdoor tennis courts, and walking trails.
They also offer a range of entertainment options, including concerts, comedy shows, a recently renovated 125,000 square foot Las Vegas-style gaming floor, and several nationally-televised sporting events including boxing, mixed martial arts and golf championships.
Believe me when I say there is something here for everyone to enjoy!
With five different accommodations to choose from, there is an place to say that is perfect for everyone and every budget. While I have stayed in nearly all of them, I am partial to The Lodge and the newly renovated Tower which now offers state of the art hypoallergenic rooms.
The tallest building between Albany and Syracuse, the Tower offers a stunning panoramic view of the countryside, the view from my room was breathtaking! A AAA Four Diamond award winner for the last 12 consecutive years, the Tower hotel is currently being renovated floor-by-floor, bringing a fresh, clean design to the property and introducing an entire floor of hypo-allergenic guest rooms. I was lucky enough to stay in one of these hypoallergenic rooms which are designed to eliminate indoor allergens, pathogens,
These hypoallergenic rooms open the travel experience up to those who traditionally do not travel far from home for fear of potential health issues. Let me tell you, this room is STUNNING. It is modern and chic, clean and comfortable, and quietly elegant.
To say that I am obsessed with The Lodge is an understatement. The Lodge is an elegant all-suite hotel that’s perfected the art of pampering. If I won the lottery and could take up residence anywhere in the world, I’d just move into the Presidential suite and live there forever (a girl can dream, right?).
Turning Stone Resort Casino is proud to say The Lodge is a winner of the Forbes Travel Guide Four Star Award and AAA Four Diamond Award.
From the moment you arrive at The Lodge, you are treated like a queen. The professional staff is ready to greet and assist you with our complimentary valet parking and then present you with ‘’Welcome” chocolates and a seasonal beverage at Reception.
Your exquisite suite will be prepared for you with a number of amenities including an in-room safe, minibar, robes, Keurig coffee maker, Saratoga water and complimentary Wi-Fi.
As a guest at The Lodge, you will be provided with access to The Lodge pool, hot tub and exercise facility. Each morning the newspaper will be delivered to you and you are invited to relax in the Great Room for complimentary coffee and tea services, my favorite place to sneak in some work on quiet mornings.
Once evening descends on the Resort, you are invited to the nightly and unique s’more roast on the Great Lawn Patio (weather permitting). The Lodge staff will also prepare your room with nightly turndown service.
The Spa Experience
Now I would have never considered myself to be a spa snob, I mean a spa is a spa, right? Well let me tell you, you take one step into Skʌ:nʌ́: Spa and your life will be forever changed. From the moment you step into the spa, all of your senses are immediately sent into a state of peace and relaxation. It truly is heaven on earth.
Immerse yourself in the deep, restorative power of true spa therapy, exceptional services, and stunning architecture. Ska:ná: is designed to help you bring lifestyle, nutrition,
I don’t know if I can put into words how lovely the experience has been in Ska:ná:, every single time I have been lucky enough to go. If you are planning on a trip to Turning Stone, I highly suggest planning an entire day to spend at Ska:ná:, because whatever treatment you book is not the only experience you will get to enjoy.
It is recommended to arrive at least 1 hour before your treatment so that you may check in, shower, change into spa attire and begin your spa experience with the Balancing Waters Ritual in our steam, sauna, whirlpool and lounge area.
This is one of my favorite experiences, and I have even been known to stay after my treatment to do the Balancing Waters Ritual all over again. The best part about booking your treatment is that you have access to the spa for the entire day of your appointment.
When you participate in the Balancing Waters Ritual, you are invited to enjoy the powers of water, an important life force according to Oneida teachings. The progressive steps taken in the Balancing Waters Ritual are designed to be relaxing, yet stimulating to the circulatory and central nervous system.
The therapeutic balance of waters includes the alternate use of hot and cool water treatments as well as steam baths and dry inhalation. Experience an increase in circulation, detoxification,
I am lucky enough to have experienced just about every treatment offered at Ska:ná: Spa from massages and facials, manicures, pedicures and everything in between. I was even spoiled with a specially designed pregnancy massage from the Prenatal Pampering offerings when I was pregnant with my son Ransom.
My husband is not much of a spa guy, but my dad is and he loves the entire selection of spa services exclusively designed for gentleman through Ska:ná: for Gentlemen service selection. And if you and your loved one want to go together, well the Treatments for Two offerings are just right for you!
Signature Sage & Himalayan Salt Stone Massage
The Signature Sage & Milalayan Salt Stone Massage is one of my favorite treatments. A signature offering from Skʌ:nʌ́:, this massage blends ancient tradition with aromatherapy and touch to promote tranquility and balance. With the 84 naturally occurring minerals and elements found in the pure salt stones, the massage soothes tired muscles and releases tension, reduces inflammation, balances the central nervous system, nourishes depleted cells in the body, stimulates circulation and improves the quality and length of sleep. The body is massaged with Himalayan Salt Stones using one of three sage oil blends, promoting detoxification.
From the Earth Mud Wrap
This mud wrap experience has been by far the most amazing spa treatment I have ever had the pleasure to enjoy. Based on the tradition of using mineral-rich medicinal mud and light massage therapy, this treatment detoxifies and relaxes sore muscles and joints. This balancing ritual includes a therapeutic mud wrap and thermal mineral bath, followed by a light massage application incorporating the medicinal benefits of sage.
The Dining Experience
As a dietitian nutritionist who is married to a Chef, good food is important to me which is why I am always excited to visit Turning Stone Resort Casino for their unbelievable dining options.
With over 20 dining experiences to choose from, there is always something for everyone at one of these amazing locations. If you are looking for an upscale dining experience, I recommend both Wildflowers and the TS Steak House. Their attention to detail and freshly sources produce pulls me back time and time again.
Considered one of the top-rated restaurants in New York, Wildflowers Restaurant serves the finest and freshest Contemporary American cuisine including fresh catch seafood and perfectly prepared steaks, using locally-sourced produce whenever possible.
Whenever Phil and I come to Turning Stone it is a tradition to attend Wildflowers for breakfast, and every time we each get the ultra fancy Eggs Benedict dish, but this time as I was alone, I ventured out for the Bananas Fosters French Toast.
TS Steak House
Located atop the Tower, TS Steakhouse features a menu to dine for plus panoramic views. Inspired by the cultural dining history of the Oneida Indians and their practice of “eating the seasons” through locally sourced and sustainable foods, TS Steakhouse builds on this long-standing tradition to deliver fine dining steakhouse favorites created with seasonal ingredients.
TS Steakhouse has received Open Table’s 100 Most Romantic Restaurants in America Award for three consecutive years (2015, 2016, 2017). Most recently it was recommended by Forbes Travel Guide as One of the Finest Properties in the World for 2016 and also received Wine Spectator Magazine’s 2016 Award of Excellence.
Now imagine how bummed I was to attend one of the most romantic restaurants in America without my love! I was so impressed with the atmosphere, staff, and amazing food that I am just dying to go back with my husband soon. My meal was nothing short of incredible, and you can catch the experience, including a beautiful rainbow from the terrace, in my Sneak Peak Video below!
Now obviously Turning Stone Resort Casino is a casino, and from what my husband and dad tell me, its an amazing casino! But I’m not a gambler, I like my money exactly where I can see it, via a drink in my hand or a delicious meal in front of my face. But just because you don’t like to gamble doesn’t mean there is not a ton of super fun things for you to do during your stay at Turning Stone.
First up, Turning Stone always has amazing concerts and events going on all the time, just check out the events calendar! Last year for my bachelor party,
Turning Stone has what they call Exit 33, a fun night-life club like
The best part? There is no need for a DD or to risk ever thinking about drinking and driving because you can walk from venue to venue. It truly is a genius way to have an amazing time with no worries, you can really let go and enjoy the experience.
I hope that you consider a staycation for your mental and physical health, and I hope that you one day have the opportunity to experience Turning Stone and everything that it has to offer.
While this post is sponsored by Turning Stone, I truly love going there any chance I get and will continue to visit with my family whenever we have the opportunity!
