Ingredient Notes
- A gummy mix of choice – you can use my cannabis oil gummy recipe, cannabis tincture gummy recipe, or meltdown store-bought gummy bears
- Nerds candies – your color of choice, but you need these for those classic nerd crunches

Step-by-Step Instructions
- Step 1 – Place your molds on a baking sheet. Fill the molds 1/3 of the way with a layer of nerds candies.
- Step 2 – Prepare your cannabis gummy product. Find different options outlined below.
- Step 3 – Transfer the hot, prepared gummy mixture to a squeeze bottle. If the mix is not already hot, warm over medium-low heat until fluid.
- Step 4 – Squeeze the gummy mix on the candies in the molds. Fill 2/3 of the way full.
- Step 5 – Cover the gummies with an additional layer of nerds candies.
- Step 6 – Allow the gummies to dry in the molds for 30 minutes before removing from the mold.
- Step 7 – Toss the gummies in additional candy if desired.
- Step 8 – Allow the ropes to naturally air dry for 24-48 hours.

If You Don’t Have Molds
- Step 1 – Fill a small baking dish 1/3 of the way full with original nerds candies.
- Step 2 – Prepare your cannabis gummy product. Transfer the hot, prepared gummy mixture to a squeeze bottle.
- Step 3 – Squeeze the gummy mix into the baking dish. Make gummy ropes or nerds bites. Toss the gummy around, ensuring it is completely coated.
- Step 4 – Pull the final product out of the dish and place it on a reserved sheet to air dry for 24-48 hours.
Storage Instructions
Store these candy treats in an airtight container the next day after air drying. I recommend mylar bags if the entire rope can fit. If you don’t have this, resealable kitchen tubs will work.

Homemade Cannabis Gummy Mix
If you want to make your gummy mix from scratch, I’ve got three recipes to choose from.
With these recipes, you will be able to control the infusion option you use, and the mg of active THC added. So whether it’s 10mg, 50mg of THC, or a hefty 400mg of THC, you have complete control!
And with a homemade recipe, you will be able to use a wide variety of flavors and choose your preferred type of ingredients, from organic cane sugar to corn syrup and more.
- Gummies made with butter or oil
- Gummies made with cannabis tinctures
- Healthy cannabis gummies made with concentrates – a great healthy alternative!
Melting Storebought Gummies
While I’ve never had success with this process myself, I have heard of members of my community melting down store-bought gummies such as Albanese or Haribo gummy bears.
Once melted, you can mix in a cannabis concentrate or a small amount of oil.
Again, I haven’t had success with this process, but many others have reported this option makes a mighty awesome candy edible in a pinch.
Notes and Expert Tips
- Keep your gummy edible out of any humid conditions. This will cause the gummy to sweat and the candies to fall off.
- If you’re new to edibles, be mindful of your THC dosage. Although you want to have a delightful experience, a fun experience, you don’t want to learn the hard way what it means to overconsume cannabis edibles.
- Keep out of reach of children. While reaching for nerd rope edibles after a long day of work is amazing, these treats are for the adult sweet tooth only.

This will depend on how strong you want your THC edibles to be. Consider how strong you want your final nerd’s rope to be 10mg of THC? 400mg THC? And what is a single serving? A whole rope? An eighth of the rope? What’s your tolerance? These are important considerations. Don’t overdo it with these delicious sweet treats!

If you want a sour gummy, you can add citric acid, but only do so AFTER the gummies have been air-dried.

Easy DIY Cannabis Nerds Rope
Ingredients
- 1 cup melted gummy mix
- 1 cup nerds candies
Instructions
Nerds Ropes Using Molds
- Prep your molds ahead of time by placing them on a baking sheet. Fill the molds half way with a layer of nerds candies. Set aside.
- Prepare your melted cannabis gummies by either making a gummy mix from scratch or melting down store-bought gummies. Find several options outlined above.
- Transfer the hot, melted gummy mixture to a squeeze bottle.
- Squeeze the gummy mixture on top of the nerds candies in the molds. Fill nearly to the top, but not quite.
- Cover the gummies with an additional layer of nerds candies, ensuring all areas are well coated.
- Allow the gummies to dry in the molds for 30 minutes before removing the candy from the molds.
- Allow the nerds ropes to naturally air dry for 24-48 hours. Store in an airtight container.
Nerds Ropes Without Molds
- Line a 8×8 baking dish with foil or parchment paper. Fill the baking dish with the nerds candies. Line a baking sheet with foil. Set aside. Set aside.
- Prepare your melted cannabis gummies by either making a gummy mix from scratch or melting down store-bought gummies. Find several options outlined above.
- Transfer the hot, melted gummy mixture to a squeeze bottle.
- Use the squeeze bottle to squeeze a line of gummy mixture into the nerds. As it begins to harden, toss the gummy around, ensuring it is completley coated in the candy.
- Pull the nerds rope out of the nerds candies and set aside on the foil lined baking sheet.
- Allow the nerds ropes to naturally air dry for 24-48 hours. Store in an airtight container.

I tried something similar with your gummy recipe with a few tweaks, and used gummy worm molds. The result is what my friends and I have taken to calling Nurdy Wurms, we call the regular gummy worms Durty Wurms. The nerds ended up inside of the gummies, interestingly enough they did not melt and kept the crunch.

I made a few then refrigerated them and the nerds got soft . After ? I wasn’t sure if you keep them out or cold
Hi Kelly. Did you allow the gummies to sit in the molds for a bit after making and then give time to air dry? Our recommendations are to allow the gummies to dry in the molds for 30 minutes and then remove to air dry naturally for 24-48 hours. Refrigeration shouldn’t be necessary. I hope this helps!
