5 Amazing Benefits of Growing Cannabis Outdoors

Outdoor cultivation offers so much more than just beautiful plants; it’s a simple, cost-effective, and deeply rewarding way to grow your own medicine—medicine that’s tailored to your needs and grown with care.

This means you’ll have access to cannabis that helps you feel your best without having to rely on expensive dispensaries or products that might not align with your values or budget.

Most importantly, by growing your own cannabis, you’re taking control.

You’re growing plants that will help you feel better, both physically and emotionally, while saving money and connecting with nature in ways you never imagined.

  1. Save Money, Grow Confidence

One of the biggest reasons to grow cannabis outdoors is financial savings. Forget about expensive grow lights, climate control systems, or sky-high electricity bills.

All you need is a sunny spot in your yard, quality soil, and water.

I personally swear by using composted turkey manure from my farm—an affordable, natural fertilizer that helps my plants flourish without any costly, synthetic nutrients.

Your plants will thrive with just a few simple, wallet-friendly steps, and you’ll gain the satisfaction of knowing you grew them yourself—saving hundreds or even thousands of dollars in the process.

  1. Partner with Mother Nature

Growing cannabis outdoors lets you work with nature, not against it.

Photoperiod plants, for example, follow the sun’s natural light cycles, flowering at just the right time as the seasons change.

This means Mother Nature does much of the hard work for you, making outdoor growing an intuitive and stress-free experience.

For me, understanding my local growing zone (Zone 6a) has been key. By planting at the right time and letting nature do its thing, I’ve enjoyed incredible results year after year.

With a little planning and research into your specific climate, you’ll soon have a thriving outdoor garden that feels truly like a partnership with the earth.

As you see her transform from her vegetative to flowering state and see the beautiful trichomes develop, you will begin to understand why it is considered a truly magical experience.

  1. Hands-Off and Hassle-Free

If you’re busy or prefer a relaxed approach, outdoor growing is perfect for you.

Once your female plants are set up with proper spacing, good soil, and water, they can largely care for themselves, with sunlight and rain doing much of the work.

My personal process involves planting seeds, giving them room to grow, and stepping back to watch nature unfold.

While I check on them regularly for pests and progress, this hands-off method ensures I can enjoy the rewards of growing without feeling burdened by it.

You’ll appreciate how seamless and low-maintenance the process feels, freeing you to enjoy more time doing what you love.

  1. Grow Sustainably and Breathe Easier

Growing outdoors isn’t just good for you—it’s good for the planet.

Your garden will have a much smaller carbon footprint by relying on natural sunlight and avoiding energy-draining grow lights.

This is a chance to grow sustainably, knowing you’re making choices that benefit the environment while also providing beautiful, potent plants for yourself.

Another benefit? You now have access to raw cannabis leaves, which can be used for their incredible health benefits, including juicing.

And don’t stop there! You can also save your fan leaves, trim leaves, and even cannabis roots to create different types of medicine.

  1. Access the Medicine You Deserve

Ultimately, the entire purpose of growing cannabis is to enjoy the amazing benefits it provides.

Whether you’re managing pain, reducing anxiety, or simply seeking better sleep, growing your own allows you to tailor the process to your unique needs.

Imagine knowing exactly where your medicine comes from, how it was grown, and the care that went into it.

Imagine how much control you can have when you have he choice to select an Indica vs. Sativa plant, a strain you love, and the harvest time that is right for you.

Not only does this save you money, but it also empowers you to take control of your health and wellness in a deeply personal and meaningful way.

    2. Hi Emily I have small plants about a month old and they just starting to wilt at night time only then come back in early morning. I have seed starting soil in the pots.they aren’t too big for the little pots yet.so my plan is to put them in big pots. My second time growing the first time was 1999 I couldn’t harvest the police got em.so hopefully this will be my first harvest.thank you for your expertise.

      1. Hi Gary. It sounds like your plants are coming along nicely. Wilting at night can be normal as they conserve energy and “go to sleep”, but repotting them into bigger pots is a great idea to keep them thriving. Best of luck with your grow this time — here’s to a successful harvest! 🌱
