Ever wondered how to elevate your self-care routine with simple, natural ingredients? By combining the soothing power of aromatherapy with the therapeutic benefits of cannabis, you can create a truly personalized wellness experience. This article will guide you through easy, approachable ways to feel more relaxed, balanced, and in tune with your body.
Why You Will Love This Guide
If you’ve spent any time exploring natural ways to relax or enhance your wellness, you’re probably familiar with the world of essential oils.
Their potent scents are powerful allies to soothe stress, uplift spirits, and even keep pests away.
But did you know that the properties of many of these oils mirror the holistic benefits of cannabis, thanks to something they have in common, terpenes?
Let’s explore how these aromatherapy tools can complement your wellness routine, including your experience with cannabis.
Essential Oils I Reach for Every Day
Over the years, Iโve tried so many essential oils, but honestly, there are a handful I always come back to.
These are staples in my household for moments of relaxation, first aid, and even household tasks.
Here’s why theyโve earned a permanent spot in my wellness toolkit.
Lavender โ The Ultimate Stress Reliever
Lavender oil is widely known for its calming properties, making it my go-to for managing stress and anxiety. I love its versatility!
Whether in my cleaning products, a laundry rinse, or an evening diffuser blend, lavender is always within reach.
The way it soothes minor burns is a welcome bonus.
Tea Tree โ A Natural Purifier
Tea tree oil is in my cabinet at all times, itโs an essential for cleaning and first aid.
Known for its antibacterial and antifungal properties, I use it in acne treatments or whenever something needs serious purification.
Peppermint โ A Breath of Fresh Air
I never appreciated peppermint more than after moving into a 107-year-old house! Itโs incredible for repelling spiders and mice. Bonus?
Itโs also a great ally for headaches and queasy stomachsโthough admittedly, I often opt for peppermint tea in those cases.
Rosemary โ For Immune and Skin Support
I turn to rosemary oil for its wonderful immune-boosting properties and skin benefits.
Itโs a staple in my DIY facial oils. Plus, its rich, herbal scent feels grounding and uplifting.
Cedarwood โ An Old-House Necessity
Another favorite for pest control, cedarwood works wonders in keeping rodents at bay.
I pair it with hemp oil for my dusting routine, creating a protective and subtly scented barrier.
Aromatherapy for Stress โ A Complement to Cannabis
Stress is such a profound factor in modern health challenges and is often the reason we turn to wellness practices like aromatherapy or cannabis.
Research suggests that up to 90% of doctor visits are stress-relatedโmind-blowing, right? Thankfully, essential oils and cannabis offer natural paths to easing the toll stress takes on our minds and bodies.
Here are some calming aromatherapy picks that work beautifully on their own or alongside cannabis consumption for a next-level relaxation experience:
- Lavender โ A universal favorite for calming the mind. Pair it with an Indica strain for a full-body unwind.
- Chamomile โ Reminiscent of bedtime teas, it’s perfect for promoting sleep. Chamomile tea and a CBN gummies before bed are a match made in heaven.
- Rose โ This oil dissipates tension with its luscious floral essence. Try pairing it with a microdose of cannabis for moments of focus and self-care.
- Jasmine โ If you’re into uplifting aromas that also calm the soul, jasmine oil can be paired with low-THC strains to create a harmonious balance.
- Sandalwood โ Earthy and elegant, it works beautifully when grounding yourself after a busy day. Pair it with cannabis to deepen this grounding effect.
- Vanilla โ Associated with comfort and joy, itโs perfect for stress relief. A touch of vanilla oil during a sesh can amplify the soothing atmosphere.
- Ylang Ylang โ Known as โthe flower of flowers,โ this versatile oil can help curb fear, anger, and low moods. Combining it with calming cannabis strains may help reset your mindset.
How to Use Aromatherapy in Your Cannabis Routine
Integrating aromatherapy into cannabis consumption is easier than you might think!
Here’s how you can elevate your sessions with essential oils:
1. Diffusers for Ambiance
A diffuser is an affordable way to fill your room with calming or energizing scents.
Try lavender or sandalwood during a slow evening, or uplifting citrus oils to brighten up midday sessions.
2. Bath Rituals
Bring essential oils and cannabis together for the ultimate relaxing bath.
Add a few drops of chamomile or rose essential oil to your bathwater. Pair with a cannabis edible for a full-body relaxation experience.
3. Steam Sessions
Got a humidifier? Why not infuse your space with your favorite oils? You could even sync with a calming CBD strain for a truly immersive self-care moment.
No humidifier? A pot of simmering water with your chosen oil does the trick.
4. Massage with Cannabinoids
Cannabis topicals and oils already work wonders, so imagine the boost when you add essential oils like ylang ylang or sandalwood to the mix.
Blend a few drops with a carrier oil and apply after a session to relieve muscle tension or make this homemade infused massage oil.
Where to Buy Essential Oils
I was chatting with a friend about essential oils recently, and she raved about one of the blends from a well-known MLM (multi-level marketing) company. “I know you don’t like MLM oils, but…”
Hold up! Let’s clear the air. I don’t hate essential oils from MLM brands.
Honestly, I’ve tried a few, and they were perfectly fine in terms of quality. My main critique lies in one simple factโthey’re overpriced.
Hereโs why. MLM companies inflate their prices to account for their structure. With multiple tiers of sales representatives to compensate, the cost inevitably gets passed on to you. Thatโs just how the model works.
Is it a bad thing? Not necessarily. If you want to support a friendโs business or feel particularly drawn to a specific companyโs oils, go for it! Just know that you’re paying for the marketing machine, not a guarantee of higher quality.
โBut the testing!โ Sure, some claim rigorous testing protocols, which is great, but there are plenty of non-MLM brands that also test thoroughly. โBut the certifications!โ Be cautiousโlabels like “therapeutic grade” are marketing terms with no standardized meaning.
Again, I’m not saying you shouldn’t buy MLM oils. Just be fully informed about what youโre paying forโmarketing, not a magical standard of quality.
My Favorite Essential Oil Brands
If youโre like me and prefer high-quality oils without the hefty MLM markup, here are my go-to brands. These companies provide well-tested oils, often at a fraction of the price:
- Aura Cacia
- NOW Foods
- Plant Therapy
- Starwest Botanicals
All of these brands offer both organic and non-organic options. If youโre wondering whether you need to buy organic, it depends on the plant.
Many herbs naturally resist pests and donโt require pesticides, meaning non-organic oils might still be very clean. If you’re uncertain or donโt have time to dig into sourcing practices, organic can be a saferโbut pricierโchoice.
At the end of the day, the best oils are the ones that fit your wellness goals and donโt break the bank.
Whether youโre blending oils with cannabis as part of your self-care or simply enjoying their therapeutic properties on their own, the key is to do what works for you.
Building Your Aromatic and Cannabis Toolkit
At the end of the day, your wellness routine is all about finding what works for you.
Whether itโs using aromatherapy oils for self-care or incorporating cannabis to enhance your experience, the goal is the sameโto feel good, stay balanced, and take control of your well-being.
