Understand Your ECS

This all starts with your endocannabinoid system (ECS).

Yes, you have an ECS, just like you have an immune system and a digestive system.

This system is the reason that cannabis works. The main purpose of the ECS is to maintain balance inside your body.

So it makes sense why we feel so much better when we consume cannabis.

You can read more about the details of the ECS here, but the most important thing to know is this:

  1. Everybodyโ€™s ECS is different, so your cannabis experience will be unique to YOU.
  2. What works for your friend or me is not guaranteed to work for you, and thatโ€™s OK.
  3. On your cannabis journey, you must be patient and willing to experiment to find what works best for you and your unique ECS.

Know Your Cannabinoids

You may already know the most popular cannabinoids, THC and CBD.

Itโ€™s important to know that there are over 100 cannabinoids found within cannabis plants, and each one affects us differently.

These cannabinoids interact with our ECS to produce a variety of effects. This means that THC will affect you differently than CBD or CBG.

To know which cannabinoid is right for you, you will want to experiment with each one to see how it affects you.

In a very generalized description, this is what each cannabinoid may help with:

  • CBD – wellness, inflammation, anxiety
  • THC* – pain, relaxation, bliss, sleep
  • CBG – focus, energy, clarity
  • CBN – sleep, sedation
  • CBDA – nausea, vomiting, pain, inflammation
  • THCA โ€“ nausea, pain, inflammation

*THC is the only cannabinoid listed above that produces a โ€˜highโ€™ or intoxicating feeling. For this reason, new users may want to start with another option, like CBD products.

As you advance along your journey, you will learn that different cannabinoids work together to produce an entourage effect.

You will also discover that terpenes matter to the effects of cannabis, maybe just as much as the cannabinoids consumed.

And finally, different cannabis strains will contain different kinds of cannabinoids and terpenes.

Therefore, different strains will make you feel different, especially Indicaโ€™s vs. Sativa’s, although most plants are just hybrids. Remember, it can take some time to find the right strain for you.

Choose an Application Method

Now that you know that you need to select a cannabinoid that will interact with your ECS, itโ€™s time to decide how to use it.

How you use cannabis, or the application process, will affect how it makes you feel and how long it takes to work.

The most common and popular consumption methods include:

Each of these different ways will affect you differently and have different onset and duration times, so be sure to do your research before getting started.

It is best to select an application method you feel comfortable with; not all methods are right for everyone, and that’s OK.

Also, know that you can use a variety of forms and methods if you want; you are not limited to choosing just one.

Pick The Right Product

Once you’ve decided which cannabinoid you want to try and how you want to try it, it’s time to pick a product to start with.

If you want to start with medical cannabis, consider getting your medical marijuana card. Each state has different cannabis laws, so it may be a safer way to ensure safe and legal marijuana possession.

If you’re sticking with recreational cannabis use, you can shop with me

I know that picking the right product can be one of the most important – and difficult – choices when getting started, which is why I created my product line to help you!

From edible products to new products like my Bliss Cannabutter with 12.5 mg of THC, we have a little bit of everything.

Made with high-quality ingredients and lab-tested for your safety, you can order today and have your product delivered directly to your door.

Dose Appropriately

Now you know what cannabinoid you want to use and how you want to use it, it’s time to decide how much to use.

When it comes to cannabis, there are no standard dosing recommendations because we all react differently.

Therefore, the best option is to follow the golden rule: start low and go slow.

This means you start with a relatively low dose, assess your reaction, and slowly increase the dose as needed until you feel the desired outcome.

Of course, a low dose is subjective, but itโ€™s important to be especially conservative with THC because it can make you feel intoxicated.

If you accidentally consume too much THC, you may feel unwell. A low dose for starting THC would be between 0-5mg.

You can increase the dose as needed depending on your reaction and tolerance.

A low dose for starting CBD, CBN, or CBG could be higher because they will not make you feel intoxicated or unwell.

Most people start with a dose between 5-25mg.

Again, there is no standard dosing recommendation, and it is up to you to experiment with different doses to find what works best for you.

You can learn more about dosing in my dosing guide here.

Stay the Course

The truth is, cannabis is not a magic cure for everything, and it might not work the way you want it to the first time.

Finding the best product for you may take several attempts with different strains, cannabinoid ratios, application methods, and dosages.

And to get the most out of your experience, you will likely need to use the product for several weeks to allow your body time to adjust and assess your progress.

On top of that, so many other factors can influence your experience beyond what we already talked about, including your biochemistry, how your body processes cannabis, what youโ€™ve eaten that day, the medications you take, and more.

The most important thing I want you to know is that your cannabis journey is an experiment that requires patience.

While it can be frustrating, taking the time to stay the course and experiment may lead to your breakthrough in finding the magic combination that works perfectly for you.

Record Your Progress

Sometimes even the biggest changes are hard to notice within our bodies.

And in many cases, like with CBD, itโ€™s not always about what you feel but what you donโ€™t feel.

Unfortunately, this makes it difficult to notice the changes happening to you.

The best way to measure your progress is to record it in a cannabis journal.

Like a food diary, this journal will help you track your journey, assess your progress, and make educated decisions if you need to change.

Having this data recorded will help you look back and make connections about your symptoms, dosages, and experiences.

One of the easiest ways to record your progress is with this patient journal.

More than just a blank journal, this cannabis journal knows what you need during this special time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a medical marijuana card to shop with you?

Whether you’re using cannabis for medical use or recreational use, you do not need a medical card to shop with me or purchase my marijuana products. All of my products contain less than 0.3% THC, making them legal at the Federal Level in the United States. You do need to be 21 years of age to purchase our adult-use marijuana products. Also, keep in mind that each state has their own specific marijuana laws. What is OK in New York, such as using adult use cannabis in a public place, is not OK in another state, like New Jersey.ย

Do your products contain Sativa strains or Indica strains?

We know that Indica vs. Sativa strains can produce different effects for different people. The human body contains an endocannbinoid system that controls our experience. ย Our products use a combination of hybrid strains to provide a mellow, balanced experience.ย

Should I consult my doctor?ย

If you want to use cannabis for medical purposes tor to treat specific medical conditions, it is always a good idea to reach out to your healthcare provider.ย

How much cannabis should I use for the first time?

We always advocate for the responsible use of plant medicine, we do not want you to feel unwell or have a bad experience. For this reason, we recommend microdosing for your first cannabis experience.ย

  1. My name is Leonard, my chiropractor has told me to get some cbd salve lotion from Emily Kyle. Where can I get it?

  2. Hi Emily,
I have made a tincture I made using 4 ounces of decarbed flower and 32 ounces of everclear 190 proof. I know the % of THC in the flower (for dosing purposes). My question is If I wanted to make a liqueur using this tincture and cut it half and half with water (and other flavorings) to make it 95 proof, or cut it again to make it 45 proof would the THC % remain the same by volume say for 16 ounces?
    thankyou and love your website
    best
    John

  3. Hi John. When you dilute your tincture with water and other flavorings to adjust the proof, the volume of the liquid increases, but the total amount of THC remains the same. Therefore, the THC concentration by volume will decrease.

If you start with a tincture that’s half and half with water to achieve 95 proof, and then dilute it further to 45 proof, the process dilutes the THC concentration proportionally to the increase in liquid volume. For example, if you have 16 ounces of your original tincture and you dilute it to make 32 ounces of 95 proof liqueur, the THC concentration will be halved. Diluting it further to 45 proof will reduce the concentration even more, depending on the final volume.

Hope this helps clarify things! Feel free to reach out if you have any more questions.
