Instructions

  • An 8×8" silicone baking pan is ideal for this recipe. If you don't have one, line the bottom of a regular 8×8" baking pan with parchment paper. Set aside.
  • Add the cannabutter or coconut oil to a large saucepan over medium-low heat. Warm for 2-3 minutes, or until completely melted.
  • Add the marshmallows, stirring consistently with a silicone spatula, until they are completely melted.
  • Turn the heat off and stir in the vanilla extract and salt.
  • Stir in the cereal. Continue to stir until all of the cereal is well coated with the marshmallow mix.
  • Pour the mixture into your prepared 8×8" pan. Use the spatula to press down the mixture into the pan, creating a nice, even layer.
  • If you plan on adding any fun toppings like sprinkles or M&M's, add them now.
  • Allow the mixture to sit and cool for at least 1 hour before cutting.
  • Using a sharp knife, cut into 9 pieces.
  • Remove from the baking pan and enjoy immediately or store in an air-tight container.

Notes

Dosing Note: If you use the full 6 tablespoons of Bliss cannabutter, each square will have 25mg of THC. Adjust as needed by following the dosing guide in this post.
  • Use all things silicone, if you can. The marshmallow mixture is STICKY! Silicone baking pans and spatulas are your friends.
  • Cool the mixture at room temperature for up to 1 hour before cutting to yield the best results.
  • You can store your treats in an air-tight container at room temperature for up to a week. You can also store the rice crispy treats in a sealed container in the fridge where they will last up to two weeks, or store them in a freezer-safe bag for up to 6 weeks or more in the freezer.

Alternate Cannabis Infusion Options

As with all things edibles, there is more than one way to infuse something. Below we will explore all of the different ways you could infuse this recipe.

  • Concentrates and extracts: Easily make these treats with concentrates like distillate or FECO. Just be sure to check if your concentrate needs to be decarbed first. Then, simply mix the concentrate with normal butter or coconut oil, and then prepare the recipe according to the instructions below with your mixture.
  • Tincture: if you want to use an alcohol tincture in this recipe, be sure to evaporate the alcohol and make FECO first.
  • Decarbed Flower: You can add decarbed flower or decarbed kief right into the flour mixture. Just be mindful of adding the right dose for you, especially if you are not a regular consumer of edibles.

Notes and Expert Tips

  • Use all things silicone, if you can. The marshmallow mixture is STICKY! Silicone baking pans and spatulas are your friends.
  • Cool the mixture at room temperature for up to 1 hour before cutting to yield the best results.
  • Ensure you follow the storage instructions and remember it’s best to place this recipe away from sunlight.
  • Be careful how much THC you add per serving, and always dose according to your needs.

  1. I used 1/8 of dabs with 3 sticks of butter and tried this recipe out, totaled out to about 85mg/serving if cut in 9, about 40 if cut smaller assuming an even distribution anyway. Definitely gets sticky fast so you gotta be quick handed. I had a real easy time getting it in the 8×8 by lining parchment paper on bottom, filling, then parchment paper on top also and pressing into form. In about an hour I’ll find out if im sleeping for the rest of the week or not. My only question about this recipe… as a HUGE honey fan is there an alternative recipe that incorporates cannahoney as an alternative to the marshmellow/butter combo possibly? Would be tricky but could be amazing. I’d try myself but lack the experimental culinary confidence and or knowledge haha.

    1. Thanks for sharing your experience, George! Love the parchment paper tip β€” super helpful! As for cannahoney, it’s definitely possible to experiment, but it might take some trial and error to get the texture right without the marshmallow. Maybe try mixing it with another sticky binder like nut butter? Let us know if you give it a shot! 😊

  2. Thanks getting ready to cook up a batch I’m using debacarb Minnie Bud in butter machine
Will let know u’all know how they like them
My cookies they got to loaded used 1/8 in 6 cookies πŸ₯œπŸ§ˆπŸ˜‹

    1. Thank you so much for your kind words, Vaun! 😊 I’m so happy you found my recipes helpful and inspiring. If you have any questions or need further inspiration, feel free to reach out!

  3. I don’t like marshmallows, can I use something else to help it all stick together? Like peanut butter?

    1. Absolutely Fran, peanut butter is a great alternative to marshmallows for these cannabis rice krispie treats. It offers a unique flavor and can be a good option if you’re not a fan of marshmallows. May may need to adjust the quantity to achieve the desired consistency and taste, but that’s a personal preference. Enjoy your treats!

  4. 5 stars
We use cinnamon toast crunch minis (they are little balls and hubby found them when intending to get the regular cinnamon toast crunch) and they are delicious.

    1. Hi Chris. For making Rice Krispie treats with a twist using Cinnamon Toast Crunch, there’s no need to break them up. Keeping the cereal whole will add texture and ensure each bite is packed with its signature cinnamon flavor. Happy cooking!

  5. Made my own butter. Kinda like one guy asked was 7tbs was too much butter. I had a little extra but they came out delicious aside from my squares being somewhere around 30-35mg per, this is an excellent recipe.! Thanks

  6. 5 stars
I just made them with Fruity Pebbles and I drizzled white chocolate over them! Now they have to cool!

  7. 4 stars
If my jar only has 7 tbs of canna butter left would that b to much for a 9Γ—13 pan of rice Krispy bars

    1. Hi Doug. Using too much butter can make your treats soggy, but maybe adding extra cereal and marshmallows may help.

  8. I’m confused with what your measurements are for the marshmallows. 10 ounces doesn’t equal 5 cups. 10 ounces is about 1.25 cups not 5 cups. Can you please clarify? Thank you!

    1. Hi Heather. Using the Jet-Puffed Mini Marshmallows, a 10oz bag is roughly 420 mini marshmallows that total to about 6 cups. I hope this helps!

    1. Hello Ms. L, I haven’t tried this recipe with shredded wheat, but I would probably use 6 cups crushed πŸ™‚ Let us know how it turns out for you!

  9. I note that this recipe has 2X as much cannabutter (6 TBSP) for 6 cups of rice krispies as the original Kelloggs recipe, which calls for only 3 TBSP of butter. Won’t this make the cannabutter version quite greasy compared with regular RC squares?

    1. Hi Joe, no, I did not find this version of the recipe to be any more greasy than the traditional recipe πŸ™‚
