However, they may also contain highly processed sugars and artificial food coloring, honestly doing more harm than good.
Before we detail each ingredient, I think we should start with the first question, that isโฆ.
What is an electrolyte, and why do we need it, especially after exercise?
In nutrition, the word โelectrolyteโ is more specifically used to refer to minerals dissolved in the body’s fluids, creating electrically charged ions.
The most important electrolytes in nutrition are sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium, and phosphate.
When we exercise, we sweat; when we sweat, we excrete water from our body containing electrolytes.
Replenishing our bodies with electrolytes through our diet in the form of food and drinks is critical to prevent dehydration.

Oranges
Oranges are a great source of vitamin C and contain electrolytes such as potassium and calcium.
They also have the beneficial terpene limonene.

I have been a long time fan. I have tried several of your recipes and each have never failed. This is the first time that I tried any of Emily’s drink recipes. I wanted to have a refreshing way to be medicated during the Summer.
This recipe delivered! I made it be a little sweeter and added decarbed cannabis flower. I also used Emily’s canna salt instead of regular salt. I put a decent amount of decarbed flower in it. I also put some fresh cut cannabis tops off of some suckers I cut off of this seasons grow. I was reluctant to add the cayenne but I did anyway and I’m glad I did. The only regret I had was adding more sugar. I wish I would have stuck to the original recipe. It doesn’t kill it but it would be even more refreshing without it.
All in all I’m happy I added the extra boost of cannabis. This is an evening refresher that doesn’t involve vaping and is just as effective. I put probably 2 grams of decarbed flower in it. I also used two smaller sized navel oranges and half of a medium sized cucumber. So I did have slightly more volume.
My take on the flavor profile of this is sweet and sour ginger with a touch of heat. Over ice it’s great!
