CBD Infused Strawberry Vinaigrette

Making CBD Vinaigrette

CBD continues to gain popularity as an anti-inflammatory wellness trend that appears to be here to stay for good.

If you’re new to CBD, I encourage you to check out my CBD for Beginners Guide here. CBD is the non-psychoactive cannabinoid found in the cannabis plant that is anecdotally used to help a wide range of conditions from pain management to general health and wellness.

As a Certified Holistic Cannabis Practitioner, I take pride in using my education to guide my patients through the many different ways that cannabis can be consumed and used to complement a happy & healthy holistic lifestyle.

While I write extensively about my culinary tips for cooking with CBD hemp oil here, today we are going to be focusing on how to make a CBD Infused Vinaigrette.

This recipe continues to be a hit at our Well With Cannabis Culinary Cooking Classes and we hope you and your family will enjoy it too.

Of course, adding the CBD is completely optional, this recipe is delicious with or without it.

Eating CBD? Know This First

In my ‘Know Your Dose’ CBD Dosing Class, I teach my students that it is important to understand the different bioavailability rates that occur with various methods of CBD consumption.

When you eat CBD, whether it be in the form of a salad dressing or CBD gummy, it is orally consumed, resulting in a ~6% bioavailability rate. This is because the CBD must travel through the digestive system and undergo the hepatic first-pass metabolism.

As an educator, I always like to remind my clients that oral-mucosal absorption, vapor inhalation, and topical absorption all have around a ~30% bioavailability rate, making them a much cost-effective way to use CBD.

Of course, there is nothing wrong with eating CBD and many people prefer to consume their cannabis this way. My homemade CBD gummies are still one of the most popular recipes on this site.

As I always say, cannabis is a self-experiment, to each their own. Trust your own body and make responsible delicious and you will be just fine.

Ingredients

For the CBD Vinaigrette

  • 3 tablespoons strawberry puree*
  • 3 tablespoons white balsamic vinegar
  • 1.5 tablespoons raw, pure honey
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 3/4 cup avocado oil
  • 1mL CBD Oil or CBD Concentrate

For the Strawberry Burrata Salad

  • 6 cups packed arugula
  • 1 cup sliced strawberries
  • 1/4 slivered toasted almonds
  • 4 (4-ounce) balls of burrata cheese

Instructions

For the CBD Vinaigrette

  1. In a small, tall container, add the strawberry puree, white balsamic vinegar, honey, and black pepper. Blend together with an immersion blender.
  2. While the blender continues to run, slowly drizzle in the hemp seed oil until well incorporated.
  3. Gently and thoroughly stir in the CBD, if using.
  4. Serve immediately over Strawberry Burrata Salad.

For the Strawberry Burrata Salad

  1. Evenly divide the arugula, strawberries, and almonds amongst 4 large salad bowls.
  2. Top each salad with a burrata cheese ball.
  3. Drizzle 2.5 ounces of the CBD Infused Strawberry Vinaigrette per salad.
  4. Toss if desired, top with freshly ground black pepper if desired, and enjoy.

Notes

*To make strawberry puree, simply blend 1/4 cup fresh strawberries in a blender until smooth.

**If you do not have an immersion blender, you can use a regular blender. You can also use a mason jar or salad dressing shaker and simply shake the ingredients together.

*** If you have leftover dressing, store in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to 2-weeks if not using immediately, although cannabinoids may degrade at this time.
