Healthy Eating With Cannabis Consumption
Could medical or recreational cannabis consumption be integrated with a healthy, clean eating lifestyle for best results?
Speaking from the perspective of a both Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and a Certified Holistic Cannabis Practitioner, the answer is YES!
Cannabis consumption and healthy eating truly are a perfect pair when it comes to naturally improving one’s health and wellbeing.
Throughout history, hundreds of thousands of people have found relief from their most debilitating symptoms and conditions by simply changing their diet and adding cannabis consumption to their lifestyle.
Just like the students I teach in my Cannabis Compass Online Course, you too can learn how to use cannabis and nutrition to manage inflammation, immune health, digestive health, preventative health, and more.
Why People Are Turning to Natural Alternatives Like Cannabis
Science has already shown us that many lifestyle diseases such as obesity, diabetes, and heart disease can be treated, and oftentimes reversed, through proper nutrition, exercise, and natural alternatives like cannabis consumption.
For many people, choosing a holistic approach to health care is much better for their overall mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual health.
One of the most amazing parts about cannabis consumption is that it is a natural alternative treatment, and like dietary changes, has very few unwanted side-effects.
Heavy OTC and prescription medication use are common these days.
While they work well for some people, many find that they cause several unwanted side effects such as digestive issues, inflammation, brain fog, dependency, and more.
Many of my Cannabis Compass Course students previously experienced long term medication use but reported that the pills never fixed the underlying problems. Rather, they covered it up like a bandaid.
That’s what led them to try cannabis as an alternative treatment option.
Unlike conventional treatments, a holistic lifestyle based on clean eating, joyful exercise, and plant-based alternatives can not only improve symptoms but may actually address the root cause of the problem.
Why Cannabis Consumption Works With Clean Eating
Cannabis consumption works to improve ones health because the human body contains what is known as an endocannabinoid system (ECS).
The ECS is proven to maintain homeostasis within the body by acting as a balancing mechanism with other body systems such as the circulatory, nervous, and digestive systems.
Cannabinoids are organic compounds found within the cannabis plant that interact with endocannabinoid receptors in the human body, triggering a variety of effects.
Healthy eating has also been proven to help with maintaining homeostasis in the body.
With healthy cannabis consumption and a healthy diet, you will fix the root of your problem by healing yourself from the inside out.
That is accomplished by feeding your body healthy and clean nutrients from whole foods, supplementing with natural alternative medicine, and incorporating daily movement into your lifestyle.
After implementing these three things, many people report benefits such as weight loss, clearer skin, better focus, better sleep, more energy, less bloating, less anxiety, better moods, and so much more.
When cannabis consumption is paired with clean eating and a healthy lifestyle, the benefits are endless.
Cannabis consumption includes cannabis edibles which are easy to make as healthy recipes such as smoothies, dressings, lattes, and more.

Pairing The Right Diet With Cannabis Consumption
While many people find relief from their chronic conditions like pain and inflammation with just cannabis alone, others find more relief when they combine their consumption with a clean eating lifestyle.
The food that we put into our body not only affects the number on the scale, it also affects our mood, energy levels, concentration, sleep, skin, immunity, and overall well being.
Just like cannabis consumption is individual to each person, so is nutrition and diet.
Not everyone will need to follow the same type of diet, which is why I like to follow the clean eating philosophy, which allows any diet to easily work within the principles.
Whether you follow a gluten-free, a plant-based, a sugar-free, a Paleo or other type of lifestyle, it can all be integrated with the clean eating philosophy.
Clean eating is preferred over the common Standard American Diet which includes a large amount of processed and prepackaged foods that can be damaging to our health.
Our bodies are able to break down and use clean foods much easier than processed foods. Vitamins and minerals are also much more bioavailable in clean foods when compared to processed foods.
Processed foods that contain many ingredients are foreign to our bodies, creating many complications when digestion takes place.
Problems like bloating, uncomfortability, fatigue, constipation, etc,.
When processed foods are eaten daily this causes even more problems that eventually can lead to diseases such as heart disease, obesity, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes, inflammation, and more.
Processed foods are also depleted of their natural vitamins and minerals that you find in abundance in clean whole foods.
This then causes malnutrition and vitamin deficiencies which can lead to brittle hair and nails, loss of hair, loss of energy, insomnia, skin problems, neural damage, and memory loss.
What Are Clean Eating Foods
Clean eating foods are commonly defined as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts, seeds, and certain meats and dairy products.
Clean eating foods have little to just one ingredient listed.
Clean eating foods can come fresh, frozen, or canned.
It is however very important when buying foods are frozen or canned to check for any added ingredients, such as salt, sugar, or preservatives that would take away from the “clean” part of it.
For example, if purchasing a frozen “processed” vegetable such as cauliflower rice, if the ingredient only listed is cauliflower, then that is a clean frozen food.
