What You’ll Need

A white countertop with three labeled ingredients: cannabutter, chocolate chips, and sweetened condensed milk with a title stating easy cannabis fudge.
  • ¼ cup cannabutter: the special ingredient. Use my Bliss Cannabutter or find an alternative infusion option listed below.
  • 3 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips: A necessary ingredient for this fudge recipe. Feel free to use dark chocolate or white chocolate chips, if desired.
  • 14 ounces sweetened condensed milk: Easily available at your local supermarket, this ingredient is more stable than regular milk. It helps the fudge recipe combine and harden but yet remain melt-in-your-mouth good.

Alternate Cannabis Infusion Options

Thankfully, there is more than one way to infuse edible recipes.

Below we will explore all of the different ways you could infuse this recipe.

Cannabutter or Oil

Starting with cannabis butter is the most popular way to infuse this recipe. You can make it in a crockpot, Instant Pot, or make kief cannabutter.

Both cannabutter and coconut oil harden when cool, making them perfect consistency for fudge.

I haven’t tried it myself, but I do not think liquid cannabis oil like olive oil, MCT oil, vegetable oil or hash oil would work well in this recipe.

Cannabis Concentrates

Concentrates are the easiest way to make a potent cannabis fudge recipe, especially if you have access to medical marijuana.

Whether it be distillate or FECO, wax or shatter, all options work here.

Just be sure to check if the concentrate or extract needs to be decarbed first. Then add as many mg THC as desired.

Decarbed Cannabis Flower

While not my favorite way to infuse a recipe, using just decarbed cannabis flower works here.

Just be sure to grind it up extra fine so the texture does not interfere with the final product.

Using decarbed kief is also a great option. You likely only want to add a gram of weed or two here, depending on how potent you want it to be.

Adjust the amount of cannabis to your own personal needs.

Cannabis Sugar

This will require you to make a from-scratch fudge mixture. A standard recipe calls for sugar, cocoa powder, milk, butter, and vanilla extract.

Just swap your cannabis sugar for the granulated sugar.

Additional Toppings

For a microdose option, you can infuse this fudge with cannabis salt or cannabis peanut butter.

Combination

You could combine any of the options above for an infusion of cannabis extracts.

Notes and Expert Tips

  • If you’ve never made cannabis fudge before, feel free to make a regular batch first, before infusing, to get the process right.
  • Cannabis edibles are a wonderful thing, but they can sneak up on you! If you’re new to edibles, be sure to check out my edibles guide first before getting started.
  • Be mindful of how much THC you add to the following recipe. You want to have an enjoyable experience, but you don’t want to over-do it, either. Use my edible dosage calculator and this dosing guide to help you find an amount that is just right for you. If you want to reduce the potency, make a mixture of butter, ur unsalted butter, and cannabutter.
  • Know that if you add THC, you run the risk of failing a drug test.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make this in the microwave instead of on the stove?

I haven’t done it myself, but it should work. Keep the understanding that you should never microwave your cannabutter. If you want to do this, add the chocolate chips and sweetened condensed milk to a large microwave-safe mixing bowl and heat in 30-second increments until they are melted completely. Then, gently stir in the cannabutter.

Are there any other toppings you recommend or like?

Regular peanut butter and chocolate chips for sure. Fruit could even be a cool option if you’re feeling it!

Can I make a small batch?

Yes, simply half this recipe if needed.

Is this recipe gluten-free?

Yes, just double-check that all ingredients you use are gluten-free. Check out my full selection of gluten-free edibles here.

  1. Hi Paul. This is a bummer, but it can be fixed! There are a few reasons why the separation happened; too much butter, too much mixing, or too much milk. You can melt the fudge down, mixing slowly until warmed and blended, repour and refrigerate. You can also try adding in a tiny bit of cornstarch to absorb the extra moisture. Let us know what you try. I hope this helps! ☺️

  2. Hi Jessica. We don’t recommend any liquid oils for this recipe. Butter and coconut oil solidify when cooled, making them perfect for fudge consistency.

  3. I am sensitive to diary. Ok with butter but not sure how I would do with condensed milk?
Is there a non diary substitute for the condensed milk ?

  4. Hi Jane. We have not experimented, but I’ve found a few alternatives for you to consider:

∙ Coconut Condensed Milk: This is a great non-dairy substitute for condensed milk in fudge recipes. You can make your own by simmering full-fat coconut milk and sugar until it thickens.

∙ Soy or Almond Condensed Milk: Soy or almond milk can also be reduced with sugar to create a non-dairy condensed milk. However, they might not be as creamy as the coconut version.

∙ Cashew Cream: Blend soaked cashews with a bit of water until smooth, then simmer with a sweetener until it reduces. This creates a rich, creamy base that can work well in fudge recipes.

∙ Dairy-Free Sweetened Condensed Milk Brands: There are several brands like Nature’s Charm and Let’s Do Organic that offer ready-made, dairy-free sweetened condensed milk options, typically made from coconut.

When substituting ingredients, it takes a bit of trial and error to find the perfect substitution. We recommend making a non-infused batch until you find the recipe you like, so you’re not wasting any cannabis in recipes that don’t turn out right or if you don’t like the final results. Let us know what you try. Enjoy your baking adventure!

DELICIOUS and easy!! Question: any idea about what temperature fudge should be before you remove from heat. I have a candy thermometer and went below ‘normal’ fudge to be safe. Also, do you think this could be thinned out a bit to be poured into candy molds? Thanks in advance!!! 🙂 But again … D E L I C I O U S ! ! !

  8. Hi Lisa. Typical temperature for fudge is between 234º-238º. With this recipe, ensuring the mixture is silky smooth is key. As for molding the fudge, I believe you could thin out the mixture slightly with a bit more cream or milk to make it pourable for candy molds. However, be cautious not to add too much liquid as it could affect the final texture of the fudge. You can always try a small batch to see if you are happy with the final results.

Thank you for your kind words! We’re thrilled you found our recipe delicious and easy!
